The market does not need another general astrologer. It urgently needs the astrologer for new mothers, for founders, for people leaving corporate, for artists with stage fright. Niching feels like closing doors; in practice it’s the only thing that makes doors open — because specific people search for specific help.

Why generalists stay invisible
When you serve everyone, your content says things like “Mercury retrograde affects communication”. True, generic, ignorable. When you serve founders, the same transit becomes “don’t sign the term sheet this week — here’s why”. Same astrology, ten times the resonance — because the reader recognises themselves. Niche is not about limiting your knowledge; it’s about aiming it.
Five proven positions
- Life-stage niche: new parents, career changers, retirees, students choosing paths. You meet people at a door they must walk through anyway.
- Domain niche: business timing, relationships and synastry, health routines, creativity blocks. You become “the money astrologer”, “the couples astrologer”.
- Technique niche: horary questions, electional timing, solar returns. You’re the specialist other astrologers refer to.
- Audience-culture niche: astrology for skeptics, for data people, for Christians curious about the practice, for the queer community. Voice and safety are the product.
- Format niche: written readings only, voice-note readings, 15-minute laser sessions. The delivery IS the differentiation.
The choosing test
- Energy: which clients leave you energised rather than drained? Check your history — the pattern is already there.
- Fluency: where do you speak the audience’s language natively (because you lived it)?
- Money: does this audience already pay for solutions? (Founders and brides do. Broke students, less so.)
- Reachability: can you name where they gather online? If you can’t find them, they can’t find you.
The commitment that isn’t forever
A niche is a 90-day experiment, not a tattoo. Commit publicly for one quarter: bio, content, one offer, all aimed at one person. Real signal arrives fast — and pivoting from a clear position is easy, while pivoting from vagueness is impossible because there’s nothing to pivot from.
Try it yourself
Fill in one sentence: “I help [specific person] use astrology to [specific outcome].” If a stranger could read it and instantly know whether it’s for them — you have a niche. If it could describe any astrologer alive, keep sharpening.

Worked example: the same astrologer, three framings
